Prideaux Haven to Campbell River

We left Prideaux Haven at 0830 this morning for the 3 hour trip to Campbell River.  We went from light wind to heavy wind over that 3 hour period.  The boat ride was very comfortable since we are big, heavy and stabilized.

The docking exercise at Discovery Marina was exciting.  Lady Lynn is needs 60 feet of dock space and were assigned 75 feet with a boat in front of us and a boat behind.  The boat behind had another boat tied along side, so that combination stuck out from the dock over 30 feet.  Our job was to pull up along side the empty 75 foot space between the two boats starting out about 50 feet from the port side of our boat to the dock.  Then move the boat sideways with a 20 knot wind blowing us off the dock.  Thank god for two very strong thrusters.  Two dock attendants met us and took the lines, but the wind blew us off before they could secure the lines to the bull-rails.  Using the thrusters I kept the boat against the dock while the got the lines tied down.

We hooked up the power, registered at the marina office and went off to have lunch at the Pub.  Fish and Chips for both of us.  After that we went to the grocery store for our first round of restocking the boat.  That amounted to five bags of groceries.  Tomorrow we will repeat that exercise and get the rest of the list of needed items.  Since we left, almost a month ago, we have only eaten one meal away from the boat until today.  I really enjoy someone else's cooking and I don't have to do the dishes.  I think dinner will be ashore tonight also.
