We spent two days at Blind Channel Marina

After leaving Cortes Bay we cruised north to Blind Channel Marina.  This is a priority stop for us because of the beautiful scenery and great food.  We arrived in the early afternoon and checked in at the store.  Lynn found a nice little purse that she couldn't live without and we checked on our dinner reservation for 7PM.  All was in order and we went back to the boat to rest and tidy up for dinner.

The Cedars Restaurant is famous for German cuisine.  We ordered a bottle of wine and studied the menu.  Lynn decided to have the fresh halibut and I ordered a German dish called Rouladen.  We enjoyed the wine and looked out at the beautiful scenery.  The restaurant was fairly busy with 20 diners, but the kitchen was keeping up with orders and our food came at just the right time.  The meals were excellent and we ordered a dessert to share. Then it was back to the boat.

The next day we had lunch on the patio of the restaurant which was prepared from a kitchen in a small building next to the patio.  In keeping with my German theme I had a bratwurst and Lynn had a burger.  Both were excellent meals.

After visiting with some people we knew on the dock we joined a group of six other people for dinner that night.  We were all long time Seattle Yacht Club members, so there were many tales to be shared.  I had prawns and ribeye steak and Lynn had steamed mussels.  Another great meal for both of us.  We lingered three hours over dinner and dessert and went to bed a little after 10PM.

Our plan for Tuesday was to get up at 6AM and start the cruise to Port Harvey at 7AM.  There were gale warnings on Johnstone Straits and our route would take us into the straits for about 12 miles.  When we reached Johnstone Strait there was a NW wind of 15-20 knots blowing against an outgoing tide.  The wind against the tide is not a good combination.  The waves were about 2 feet high and there were some whitecaps.  The Lady Lynn is built for this kind of weather and we hardly noticed the effect of the wind and the seas.  The further we traveled the smoother it got and we arrived at Port Harvey about 10:45AM.
