We are home after almost 3 months of life aboard Lady Lynn

Seven hours after leaving Genoa Bay we arrived back at Shelter Bay in La Conner.  We had quite a variety of weather and sea conditions during the final leg of our voyage.  Currents of 5 knots against us a one point.  Winds of 22 knots in Bellingham Channel.  A wait of 30 minutes at the railroad bridge across the Swinomish Channel while a 100 car oil train crossed over.  The current was pulling us toward the bridge, so we had to turn circles back up the narrow channel which was 6 to 15 feet deep at the moment.

Since our neighbors were out in their boat we could use all 110 feet of our dock to make a landing.  This was good since the wind was pushing us off the dock.  Nice to have bow and stern thrusters to keep the boat on the dock while the aging crew secured the boat.

During almost three months of cruising there were only two issues with the boat.  The first was the inverter putting out 140 volts AC instead of the normal 120 volts AC.  This didn't stop us from using the inverter since everything worked on 140 volts AC.  The toaster was really fast!.  The second issue was the belt that drives the dryer drum broke.  We had to hang clothes outside or use shoreside washers and dryers.  A very very small inconvenience.  The Lady Lynn is collection of many complicated systems and these were the only two failures.  We didn't add an ounce of oil or coolant to the main engines or either of the two generators.

We are now in the process of unloading the boat and that will take a few days.  The house was in good shape except the refrigerator was not working properly and we couldn't bring the food from the boat fridge to the home fridge.  It turned out that the condenser fan had failed.  I ordered a new one and it will arrive today.  Meanwhile I put a small fan near the condenser and the refrigerator is now making ice cubes and keeping the milk cold.

It took one day to go through all the mail (mostly junk).  It also took a day to update all the computers, iPads and iPhones.  We are slaves to the machines that are supposed to make life easier.  Shadow had the easiest transition.  It was like he hadn't been gone.  It was a wonderful summer, except for the smoke from the forrest fires and we are glad to be back with our friends and neighbors.
